The Apple Ipad - Thoughts On The Pros And Cons

Right then, the Apple iPad, the eagerly awaited Apple tablet device, has been exposed.  My initial response, being the Apple enthusiast that I am was 'I want one right now!' however , as the mist cleared away and I started thinking about the good points and bad points of the gadget I suspect I will have to give it rather more deliberation before I buy one of them.  That is not to say that I will not do so, but i want to be sure.  There's a number of points both in favor of and opposed to the Apple ipad device gizmo and here are some thoughts to mull over, in no special arrangement :

Pro : The Apple ipad device is a marvel of design, smooth and not very heavy and straightforward to hold.  It looks great. 

Con : It has no method of shielding the screen other than a pouch/sleeve that's separate to the gadget itself. 

Pro : It boasts the same superb touch-screen capabilities of the iPhone and iPod Touch and appears to be a glorious object to use. 

Con : It runs the telephone OS instead of a full OS, which limits what exactly you can do with it. 

Pro : The Apple products ipad device is great for enjoying movies, TV shows and podcasts and playing games along with surfing the web. 

Con : it doesn't support flash, which will restrict the amount of use it is for surfing. 

Pro : The Apple iPad is a fantastic way to stay on the net when on a busy schedule, simple to set up and terribly quick, and the diversity of capacities means there's one for everyone. 

Con : although it's fast, there are no USB ports and there isn't any method of expanding the capacity.  And, the bigger sized drives are incredibly costly. 

Pro : The Apple iPad is superb for travelling and being on the web while relaxing thanks to the superb UI and the brilliant display. 

Con : it doesn't seem to be much good for carrying out any work on, which is what many of us would need out of it if taking it whilst travelling. 

Pro : It offers an amazing new e-reader experience for publications, magazines and web sites to be enjoyed upon. 

Con : True, but you can say the same thing regarding the iPod Touch, the iPhone, the Kindle as well as the Sony e-reader, all of which are cheaper by a very long way. 

Notwithstanding its drawbacks, I still want one as they appear to be fun and really good for casual browsing and leisure.  The absence of capabilities for utilizing it as a work gadget is the factor that's turning me off the device at the moment, but just like lots of other people, I'm intrigued by this rather superb new gadget, and am keen to have a mess about and find out precisely what the Apple iPad tablet device is able to offer me as a consumer.
