A Comparison of Kindle DX & Global Kindle
The really obvious difference between these two digital reading gadgets available to buy at this time is that one only works in the USA while the other works in countries all around the world. Clearly if you make your bed in a country besides the USA (or if you're a US citizen who frequently travels to other countries) then that makes your choice quite clear; You must choose the Global Kindle Reading Device.
Besides that, the obvious difference between the two is that of size. The Kindle DX Electronic Reading Gadget is far bigger both as far it's display size and it's memory capabilities. It's also far larger as far as it's price.
The DX is 9.7 inches and the Global Kindle is 6 inches. The larger display is particularly helpful with newspaper subscriptions (it makes it more like reading a real paper.) On the other side, the smaller size of the global version can make it more easy to carry around with you wherever you go.
There is also a substantial difference when it comes to memory size. The Kindle DX can hold up to 3,500 books while the global version can hold approximately 1,500 books, magazines, & newspapers. Although, who has that many books?! I have a difficult time imagining this huge amount of space that the DX has is necessary for the vast majority of customers.
Another difference between these devices is that the DX has an auto-rotating screen so that if you flip the gadget on it's side the screen automatically adjusts itself to be read horizontally (and automatically adjusts itself to be read vertically when you flip it back.)
Both kindles have access to approximately a half million books, newspapers, and magazines which can usually be purchased for much lower prices than their paper alternatives.
Both kindles have text to speech software which automatically turns all of your books into audio books. Yes, your Kindle will read to you!
Neither of these electronic reading devices have any monthly charges to worry about. The way the wireless service works is much like the wireless service for GPS navigational systems. Once you get the gadget the wireless just works, there's nothing else to worry about and no bills to pay.
They both have a basic web browswer that lets you check out websites wherever you are. This browser is designed for text based informational websites like blogs and Wikepedia.
